Dr. Jacob Vanitvelt and Dr. Debra Chinonis lead Vanitvelt Dentistry with a shared commitment to attentive, current, and community-focused dental care.
General Dentist
Dr. Jacob Vanitvelt
Dr. Jacob Vanitvelt is a general dentist practicing and residing right here in the Grand Blanc community, where he was born and raised. He graduated from GBHS in 2014 and went on to play baseball at Jackson College, where he met his now wife, Kelsey. He then continued his education and baseball career at Chicago State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in 2018.
After graduating from undergrad, Dr. V took a gap year and became a dental assistant while applying to dental school. Dr. V feels this experience has shaped the kind of dentist he became because he has seen the world of dentistry from a different perspective.
Dr. V then went on to dental school and earned his doctorate at the University of Louisville in 2023. Dr. V and his wife moved back home and bought his late grandpa’s home. After working as an associate dentist in Genesee County for three years, Dr. Vanitvelt knew he had more to offer. Dr. V strives to provide a lifelong dental home to all of his patients, which led him to one of the most historically trusted offices in Grand Blanc, Dr. Debra Chinonis’ practice. Dr. Chinonis has been a staple in our community for over 45 years, and Dr. V is thrilled to be able to carry on her legacy here at Vanitvelt Dentistry.
Dr. V and Kelsey are raising their 9-month-old son, Rory, and have two dogs, River and North, with whom they love to get outside and explore. When Dr. V is not at the office, he enjoys being active, spending time with family and friends, and renovating his home.
Dr. V is a proud member of the Grand Blanc Chamber of Commerce, Genesee District Dental Society, and Michigan Dental Association. Vanitvelt Dentistry is proud to be a locally owned small business serving our GB community.

Dr. Debra Chinonis
I grew up in the Flint area, completed my Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Michigan-Flint, and earned my doctorate in dental surgery from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, Ann Arbor, in 1980. My original office opened in Flint in 1980, and I relocated to Grand Blanc in 1990. I love what I do and plan to continue practicing for many years. I am also fluent in American Sign Language.
Every year I exceed the requirements for continuing education, well over 40 hours. Classes allow me to be current in all the latest technology and improvements regarding your dental treatment. I was also voted Best Dentist in Grand Blanc in 2013 and 2014.
When I am not at the office, you may find me enjoying the lake or heading up north with my husband, Dennis. We have three grown children living in the Grand Blanc area. I am passionate about my family and my church, Assumption Greek Orthodox Church. Cooking, gardening, riding on our pontoon boat, snowmobiling, and traveling are a few of my interests.
I am a member of: American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, Genesee District Dental Association, Past President of Genesee District Dental Association, Past Chairman of Peer Review, and Delta Sigma Delta Dental Fraternity.
